This month, DEKRA Arbeit GmbH – a wholly owned subsidiary of DEKRA SE – celebrates its 20th anniversary. Since January 2000, the Stuttgart-based HR services provider has made a valuable contribution to improving the labor market in Germany. From the very beginning, it has supported both employees and employers with a comprehensive range of modern job and HR solutions. Today, around 2,500 client companies and up to 20,000 temporary employees across more than 100 national and 40 international locations rely on the DEKRA Arbeit Group’s HR expertise.“The success story of the DEKRA Arbeit Group is truly unique. No one expected such rapid and internationally successful development when we started,” says Jürgen Nusser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “Even more remarkable is the loyalty of many of our long-standing clients and nearly all of our original core staff, who have stood by us for two decades – through every high and low – with trust and partnership.”
The original idea behind DEKRA Arbeit emerged in the late 1990s, when the DEKRA Group sought effective ways to support individuals in entering or re-entering the job market. The goal was also to provide participants of training and continuing education programs at DEKRA Akademie GmbH with an efficient springboard for their careers.
The concept was implemented operationally in January 2000 at three newly established locations in Germany. Shortly afterward, the tremendous growth potential and dynamic development of DEKRA Arbeit became apparent. In 2004, DEKRA Personaldienste GmbH was founded, expanding the portfolio to include HR consulting services such as outplacement support and transitional measures during clients’ change and restructuring processes. That same year, the international expansion began with the opening of the first foreign office in Croatia. Today, the company operates in 20 countries, with a strategic focus on Southeastern and Central Europe, and is well-positioned for the increasing cross-border exchange of skilled professionals.
In 2007, the company launched a new venture by merging the trade fair, event, and hospitality divisions with the long-standing “Miet & Fahr” cooperation in partnership with Mercedes-Benz CharterWay. Since then, all operations in this segment have been consolidated under the name DEKRA Event & Logistic Services GmbH, significantly contributing to DEKRA Arbeit’s placement among Germany’s Top 10 HR service providers.
Starting in 2011, DEKRA Arbeit’s previously organic growth was strategically enhanced by smaller, targeted acquisitions both in Germany and abroad. As a result, total revenue increased sharply, surpassing the half-billion-euro mark for the first time in 2018. In response to this dynamic growth across all business areas, the service portfolio was restructured in 2016 into four core segments: Personnel Management, Solution Management, Event & Logistic Management, and HR Management – each offering a wide range of sub-services. This enables DEKRA Arbeit Group to provide comprehensive, structured, and expert HR and job solutions from a single source.
DEKRA Arbeit Group is also a trusted service partner in addressing current societal trends such as digitalization and mobility. In 2017, the first mobility projects were launched in collaboration with leading providers such as MOIA and car2go. Since then, the portfolio has expanded to include various initiatives in car sharing, ride sharing, and e-scooters. Today, DEKRA Arbeit is one of the largest HR service partners in the European mobility sector, both domestically and internationally.
“In a rapidly changing world facing increasingly complex social and environmental challenges, we must constantly forge new paths,” says Stefan Kölbl, Chairman of the Board. “As a global partner for a safer world, we have been addressing these fundamental future issues for years – offering effective solutions for mobility, the workplace, and beyond.” The group’s Vision 2025, established in 2015, reflects this global societal dynamic by promoting stronger collaboration and connection across environmental, economic, and social dimensions. “With our clear mission ‘Imagine a world where unity drives success. Acting together. Standing together. That’s who we are, and who we will remain,’ we aim to continue supporting the careers of our employees while professionally meeting the full range of our clients’ staffing needs,” says Suzana Bernhard, Managing Director of DEKRA Arbeit Group. “Only by working together can we shape a job market that is accessible, sustainable, and fair for everyone.”
